Watermelons

It's a shame that there are racial connotations associated with the word "watermelon" because the word is a perfect symbol of exactly what a man like Van Jones represents. He's an avowed communist (red on the inside) who decided that he would adopt the veneer of environmentalism (green on the outside) to become far more influential than he would have otherwise. Money and power is no longer as available to people who claim the mantle of Marxism but it is to those claim the mantle of environmentalism. What other word would work just as well?
