Never Again Let It Be Said

That the Right calls the Left unpatriotic...

As many others, smarter and more erudite than myself, have said, Democrats are truly shaken by the grassroots effort of Tea Party protestors, Townies and others. What does this editorial say about the Democrats?

These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American. Drowning out the facts is how we failed at this task for decades.

I have to believe that the American people will not stand for this. Now, Pelosi's seat is safe in 2010 because she consistently gets 70% of the vote in her gerrymandered district. Steny Hoyer has a similiarly strong grip on his seat getting 74% of the vote in 2008.

So, coming out and directly calling protesters un-American will not damage the chances that Hoyer and Pelosi will return to their cushy positions in 2010 but it may put many other members of their Democratic caucus in trouble.
